Matt Vs. The Philadelphia Eagles March 2014 Edition

The month of March 2014 concluded  with several rounds of swift revelations in the world of  Philadelphia professional sports. The Philadelphia 76ers finally ended their 26 game losing streak by beating the Detroit Pistons while the aging Philadelphia Phillies kicked off their season with a surprising win over the Texas Rangers. The Flyers are still in a good position for the hockey post-season. This leaves the Philadelphia Eagles who's big move was releasing Pro Bowl wide receiver DeSean Jackson . Jackson and Eagles coach Chip Kelly clashed several times during last season and in the months since. There was a report released about Jackson's possible gang ties but I feel like the receiver's ticket out of here was punched months ago. Personally I feel that letting him go will certainly negatively impact the Eagles' upcoming 2014 season. He was a leading all star receiver on a team that throughout its history, has not had many notable receivers. Letting him go withou...

Matt Vs. The Super Bowl

While I realize this is a weeks late, I still feel like I should comment on the NFL Playoffs and their conclusion. The Philadelphia Eagles did  defeat the Dallas Cowboys to clinch a playoff spot but were defeated by the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card Game. While Nick Foles and Lesean McCoy made great strides under first year coach Chip Kelly, they are far away from being an elite team in the National Football League. Elsewhere former Eagles coach Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs blew an incredible lead to lose to the Indianapolis Colts. Finally the NFC and AFC Championship games were seemingly the matchups everyone wanted. The San Francisco 49ers played the Seattle Seahawks in a fierce divisional game while old rivals and future Hall of Famers Peyton Manning anf Tom Brady faced of in a matchup between the Denver Broncos and the New England Patriots. I found both games were full of tension and thrilling, with great plays on offense and defense. Ultimately Seattle and Denver...

Matt Vs. The NFC East

The National Football League's NFC East division has a long and storied history.  Every year the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Washington Redskins, and Dallas Cowboys compete for the division crown in hopes of going the distance and winning a Super Bowl Championship. This season has been a transition year  for all of these teams. The Eagles are having a surprising season helmed by new coach Chip Kelly and 2nd year Quarterback Nick Foles while the Redskins are following up their 2012 Division with an abysmal 3 win year and internal division. The Cowboys are one game behind from the Eagles in the division but many question the team's ability to win with their backs against the wall. The Giants have struggled as well, starting their season with six straight losses. Their 2 time Super Bowl MVP QB Eli Manning has proven to be a turnover machine. Among all the teams, defense is currently something that is being left out in the cold. So where does that leave us? As a Philad...
